Know the Risks

know the risksThe first step of preparedness is to know the risks in your area. There are a variety of risks and hazards in Canada and in Nova Scotia. Being prepared allows you to know what to do when an emergency arises.

In 2022, REMO completed a hazard risk assessment and identified the most common hazards in Lunenburg County. This is not an exhaustive list and even though a risk may not be listed here, it could present itself at any time. An all-hazard approach considers being prepared for any type of emergency as many aspects of a response are similar, thus allowing you to prepare once.

Emergencies can happen anywhere, at any time and with little time to react. Some are seasonal risks while others occur without warning.
